VIDEO: Eliquate - “The Nineties”

Eliquate

It’s rare that I get something in my inbox dope enough to post — but this video is a great example of dirt cheap creativity that really delivers the goods.

Setting up this ambitious, single-shot video must have taken days and the attention to detail makes for a damn impressive piece of work.

It’s unfortunate that “hip hop bands” are so often saddled with mediocre rappers, and Eliquate is no exception. Still, Elliot Wright has got enough raw charisma to carry the song and besides that, he directed the fucking video so clearly there’s some star quality at work here.

If you’re in the area, you can be a part of their next video, Milk Party — Casting Call.

This was such a great shot! The location carried a lot of it but you're right, all the details made the video. Also I think his rap style works for a song about The Nineties, but then I checked out two of their other songs and he seems to really rap like that all the time. For the frat party Cali circuit they're playing, though, it's perfect. Not everyone is trying to measure up to Nas!

That's certainly true. Just the same, being comfortable with not measuring up to greatness is a pretty good working definition of "Mediocrity."

At the end of the day, so fucking what? ZOMBIES YO, ZOMBIES.
